Asbestos has been banned in Switzerland since 1990 because it is harmful to health. The same cannot be said of the band Asbest (= asbestos). With their shoegaze noise rock, the trio’s only similarity to asbestos is that they are an “inherent contradiction in the system”. Asbest’s screeching, loud and angry songs are a reaction to fear, rejection and being different. On their debut album “Driven”, they focus on the question of becoming and being human, using their sombre sound to tackle some of the poisonous fibres that are inherent in society.
