Freedom of movement is a human right, yet still a privilege. Those from the Global South face a visa system that perpetuates colonial power structures and systematically restricts mobility.
For cultural practitioners, the consequences are drastic: international collaborations are hindered, careers blocked, and cultural diversity is structurally curtailed. Specifically, this leads to the cancellation of concerts and events because artists are prevented from entering, caught between bureaucracy and discrimination. Often with traumatic consequences and unnoticed by the public.
The panel brings together voices who know these barriers first-hand. Together, they make mechanisms of exclusion visible, remind us that culture evolves through movement and migration, and advocate for strategies to remain connected, mobile, and empowered to act.
This conference will be held in English.
