Music venues are key players in urban nightlife and contribute to a city's cultural diversity. Since 2018, however, the industry has been facing growing challenges: from declining per capita revenues to rising costs and debts, as well as changes in consumption behavior and decreasing participation. What are the reasons for this? The decreasing purchasing power of young people? Spotify sessions at home instead of DJ expertise in clubs? Or completely different factors?
The Bar & Club Commission Zurich, together with ZHAW, conducted a study on today's nightlife behavior. Their findings will be presented exclusively for the first time at the m4music Conference and subsequently discussed with the panel participants. The goal: to formulate insights for the music events of the future.
This conference will be held in German with simultaneous translation into French
