CARINE BACHMANN

Carine Bachmann holds a master's degree in social psychology, film studies, and international law from the University of Zurich. Her professional career began as program director of the international film and video festival VIPER in Lucerne. Later, she worked as head of communications and project manager in the social sector while also engaging in research. In 2001, she co-founded CIMERA, an organization focused on development cooperation and conflict prevention in the Caucasus and Central Asia, which she led until 2009. In this context, she dealt with language policy and citizenship in the post-Soviet context. Starting in 2009, Carine Bachmann worked for the City of Geneva and, from 2011, served as head of the Department of Culture, where she was particularly responsible for museums, libraries, and cultural promotion. During this period, she was a member of the Conference of Swiss Cities on Culture, representing it in the National Cultural Dialogue. Since February 1, 2022, she has been the Director of the Federal Office of Culture.
