Cyril Yeterian is an internationally touring musician (Cyril Cyril, Yalla Miku) and the founder of Bongo Joe Records, a record store, event-space and label based in Geneva.
Bongo Joe has made a name for itself by helping launch the careers of artists such as The Mauskovic Dance Band, Yīn Yīn, Altin Gün or Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, while also shining a light on Switzerland’s thriving music scene (Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, L’Eclair, Sami Galbi, Meril Wubslin, Hyperculte, Amami, Bound By Endogamy).
The label’s knack for unearthing, discovering, and championing localized and lesser-known music scenes is reflected in their growing reissue catalogue. Its compilations have explored Spain’s post-Franco experimental underground, synth raï music from Lyon created by Maghrebian musicians, and the rarely heard sounds of the island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe.
