COMPOSER / MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST / ACCORDIONIST, BERNE

MARIO BATKOVIC

Mario Batkovic is a Swiss composer, multi-instrumentalist, and accordionist, renowned for his experimental and genre-defying style. He composes for films and video games, creates works for symphony orchestras and choirs, and collaborates with bands as well as in the field of electronic music. International media and critics describe his music as avant-garde, physically intense, and a symbiosis of human and machine. As a key figure in contemporary accordion music, Batkovic tours internationally and has performed at festivals such as Supersonic, Le Guess Who, Bushfire, and the Montreux Jazz Festival. He has collaborated with orchestras like the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Berner Symphonieorchester, produced bands (e.g., Stiller Has), and released albums such as "Mario Batkovic" and "Introspectio" under the Invada label. He has composed original scores for films, including "Mad Heidi," "Neighbours," and "Shame and Money" (winner of the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic at the Sundance Film Festival 2026). In 2023, Mario Batkovic was honored with the Swiss Music Prize.
