Because Art Blakey brought Wayne Shorter on board as the new tenor saxophonist for the Jazz Messengers following Benny Golson's departure, Yunus Durrer had to rethink his career plans. Born in Istanbul and raised in Obwalden, Yunus has been active in the Swiss jazz and live music scene since 2017—initially as an artist manager, later in booking and production for the Festival da Jazz. In 2023, he joined Zurich’s Moods, where he has been responsible for jazz bookings ever since. And after work? Yunus listens to and shares even more music—whether as DJ Yunus Findus, with one of his collectives (Beach Club Underground & Half Notes at the Smoke Floor), or in his quest for a world free of curly parsley.
