Small and medium-sized festivals, in particular, have demonstrated successful alternative approaches. Their measures and values inform a wide range of areas, from regional and vegan catering and sustainable travel routes for artists to line-ups, pricing policies and the festival locations. What motivations and visions are behind this? What (financial) compromises do these organisers make to uphold their values? How are they organised? And where does their courage to try new things and create space for experimentation come from?
